RESEARCH OPPORTUNITIES.
The standard research experience during residency involves the completion of a prospective study. However, for interested residents this can serve as a springboard for additional educational or scientific research or the completion of a postgraduate or PhD program.
UW's research funding and diverse faculty allow residents the flexibility to make the program what they want to achieve their goals.
Residency projects
Prospective study experience
All residents gain experience with a prospective study while at UW. From grant writing to data collection to first-author manuscript submission, you'll have an active role in all aspects of research. You can read more about this on our FAQ Page as well.
Educational research
Delta Program at UW
UW residents gain valuable teaching experience throughout the program. Residents who have an interest in teaching can gain valuable training and education research experience while at UW through participation in the Delta Program. Read more here.
Postgraduate programs
Fellowships and T32 Grants
Residents may apply for a 2-year COHA Translational Research fellowship to pursue research after their residency. UW also offers T32 funding for residents to continue their work in pursuit of a PhD. For more information, contact Dr. Lauren Trepanier.
